Includes ten journals, 1873-1935. There are date gaps in the journals, and some volumes are missing. Includes a typed copy of the journals. Also contains a Taylor family genealogical record which includes an autobiographical sketch of Levi's father, Pleasant Green Taylor. Also includes a journal of Levi's first wife, Nancy Jane Gates, September 1868-August 1869. Her record includes lists of students she taught at Lynne, Utah, in 1868; lists of children who attended Sunday School in Lynne, 1868-1869; and other information. The materials are duplicates of the originals.

Levi James Taylor was born 20 May 1851 at Kaysville, Utah Territory. He spent most of his life in Harrisville, Utah. He was a farmer and also taught school for a time. In 1873 he went to Arizona on a colonizing mission, returning after four months. In 1882-1884 he served a Latter-day Saint mission to the Southern States (Virginia and West Virginia).
